Karin Barr

Originally from Germany I arrived in the Waikato in 1994.
In 2003 I had the opportunity to take part in the Matamata Sculpture Symposium and discovered my passion in carving stone.

Over the last 3 years I have been introduced to the craft of glass casting using the lost wax method. I’m working on combining both media. In glass I enjoy the transparency and colour, in stone the physical involvement as a sculptor.
My sculptures are simple and clear with strong lines. I work in smaller scale for glass and bigger scale for stone.
