David Traub

My influences from the art world are slightly eclectic in that I have been strongly influenced by the colour field painters from the 60’s and 70’s. Most notably Morris Louis, Elsworth Kelly, Mark Rothko and Kenneth Noland.
However the work is also informed by the sculptural works of Claes Oldenberg. Whereas Oldenberg takes everyday objects and alters their perspective through scale and placement , in my illusion series, I am attempting to similarly challenge the viewers perspective through the two-dimensionality of the "vessels".
